Japan is trying something new to help their recession torn country - they are paying any immigrants to go back to their home countries. I did a double take when I first read this but now I understand why. Pay the immigrant workers to leave and that opens up the job for a Japanese worker. Less money leaving the country, and more staying. Interesting. The program is limited to the country’s Latin American guest workers, whose Japanese parents and grandparents emigrated to Brazil and neighboring countries a century ago to work on coffee plantations. Will it work? Only time will tell. Here's the rest of the story.

PHILIPPINES UPDATE FROM DANIEL
I am having a great time in the Philippines with my Grandmas, my aunts and uncles and my cousins and new friends. Everyone loves me and thinks I will grow up to be a movie star. I am not sure what that means but I think they love me here. Here are some pictures of the trip so far.
Here I am in the Dallas, TX airport. I slept the whole way from Atlanta and that made Mommy very happy.
Here I am in Japan stretching my legs after a long, long trip from Dallas. I ran around so much and made Mommy so tired trying to catch me. We met some nice Filipinos in Japan.
Here I am with my Tita Des. I fell asleep and they cut my hair! In the background you can see my cousin Kuya Dale.

DON'T PUT OFF UNTIL TOMORROW, WHAT YOU CAN DO TODAY
There has been a lot written and commented on about stem cell research. It is somewhat controversial but at least it is worth reading and considering and then, formulating an opinion. In your reading, you will find a host of information and learn an incredible amount about stem cells and how they can be used in the prevention and treatment of women's diseases. Not only could it be a disease in the woman, but it could be something hereditary passed along to her children. Diseases like osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease....all can be life threatening not only to the parent, but to the children as well. C'elle "enables and empowers a woman to take control of her future health, and possibly of those genetically closest to her, in a fast, painless and stress free way." This statement proves powerful when you read and understand the simple process of collecting and harvesting the cells.
Menstrual cells are processed and stored at a very low temperatures for potential cellular therapies that may be used in the future. This branch of science is proving to be more and more powerful all the time and the possibilities, while some may abuse them, are far-reaching. I would encourage every woman to click the above link and read the testimonials and even research the company on their website. You can click their About Page to learn more. And for a limited time, C'elle is offering you an affordable way to protect your future. Enroll now for only $299 ($400 off the regular price!!! ) Be sure to use Promo Code CN400. When you are ready to order, simply click the Limited Time Offer button. They also have live staff members ready to chat with you and answer any questions you may have. Be sure to check out this life saving and powerful resource today!

THAT'S AMAZING!
- Elephants are the only animal physically unable to jump. This is because of their enormous weight.
- The first single issued by singer-songwriter Cat Stevens was titled “I Love My Dog.”
- Whales still have hip bones.
- The tallest known mountain in the solar system is on one of the smallest planets: Mars’ Olympus Mons, which stands an incredible 15 miles tall.
- The world’s largest desert is not the Sahara; it is the continent of Antarctica. (Antarctica is classified as a “cold desert”).
- Bluetooth, the wireless communication standard, was named after Harald Bluetooth, a tenth century king who encouraged communication and unity among warring Norse and Danish tribes.
- The first registered domain name was symbolics.com, which was registered on March 15, 1985.

WHAT FERDINAND AND IMELDA LEFT BEHIND
When Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos fled the Philippines and the Malacañan Palace when his regime was overthrown, they left behind nearly all of their possessions, which were quite numerous. Imelda was first thought to own more than 6,000 individual shoes, a number which was later downgraded to "only" 1,060 pairs. She also abandoned 65 parasols (umbrellas), 15 mink coats, 888 purses, 508 floor-length dresses and 71 pairs of sunglasses.
At a time when most Filipinos struggled to get food on the table, The Marcos' raped the country they led along with the people they served. Actually it sounds eerily like today's leadership in the Philippines as well.

THE OVERWEIGHT CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING???
Scientists warned that the increase in big-eaters means more food production — a major cause of CO2 gas emissions warming the planet. Overweight people are also more likely to drive, adding to environmental damage.
Wow, science. They amaze me. Fat people cause global warming. Nice discovery. What's next? Do we govern them? Do we tell them how much they can eat? Do we monitor them so they don't eat too much??? After all, we need to save the planet, right??? Pathetic. Real science focuses on solutions not petty prejudices that lead to nowhere. Unbelievable. Guess what?? Tax payer dollars paid for this brilliant discovery. Here's the story.

YAMAHA RHINO RECALL

ATV's are certainly fun to drive and the speed and rugged off road fun can be very addicting! But the truth is these vehicles can also be very dangerous. Especially if you don't know how to handle them or don't know what you are doing. Recently, Yamaha has performed a recall that causes some alarm. ATV's can roll over very easy and the Yamaha Rhino ATV is no exception. In fact, the Yamaha Rhino Rollover recall has caused quite a stir as this is not the first time such a recall has happened. The Yamaha Rhino has literally left hundreds injured.
The Yamaha Rhino ATV is an $11,000 side-by-side all terrain vehicle and is extremely unsafe. The main reason is because it rolls over even when operating at low speeds. This ought not be so. Many injuries and deaths have occurred due to the defective design of the Rhino and there are widespread reports of broken legs which occur as a result of the vehicle rolling over. The primary reason this occurs is due to its unsafe design. Thus, the Yamaha recall.
If you or a loved one or someone you know were injured in a Yamaha Rhino ATV accident, please contact the law firm of Mark & Associates, P.C. which has been representing victims of unsafe products for fifteen years. Call 1-866-50-RIGHTS (1-866-507-4448). Please click the above link and find out more today!

DANIEL'S 1ST HAIRCUT
I wasn't there for it but our son Daniel received his first haircut! Auntie Cion performed the duties and here is the result! Cutie pie Reena seems to have taken to her cousin so much and Daniel certainly doesn't mind the attention. Debbie isn't feeling the best right now so your prayers are very welcome for her. It is incredibly hot there and as I sit here in Georgia with a sweater on, my wife and son are sweating it out in the Philippines. Can't wait to join them!

THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE
Probably everyone at one time or another has wanted to visit Florida. There are so many beautiful and wonderful cities and of course the coastal areas have the most beautiful beaches and views of the ocean as well as the Gulf of Mexico. One of the most beautiful places in all of Florida is Kissimmee.
This city lies right in the middle of the state. Half way down Florida, Kissimmee is home to many beautiful attractions and many FREE things to do. That's right - Kissimmee is home to
free things such as checking out the wilderness preserves or maybe you are a history buff and love historic downtown areas or little eclectic shops and boutiques. Maybe it’s a picnic at the park. Or maybe it is something historical you are looking to see such as the monument shown here depicts. I know this is close to the heart of every Filipino reading this as it is the Bataan-Corregidor Memorial. It is dedicated to the Americans and Filipinos who served in defense of democracy in the Philippines during World War II. All these things are free but there's more. You not only have a host of free things to do but there are also other things such as visiting to a theme park, taking in a dinner show, or planning a romantic dinner for two. And right now Kissimmee is giving away three (3) weekend getaways (3 days/2 nights) for two (2); and two (2) week long vacations for four (4). Drawings will be held on or around 4/15/09 and 5/21/09 and 6/1/09. If you are in the market for a free vacation, (and who isn't) then click the above link and enter for yourself a chance to win a free vacation, complements of Kissimmee. Check out their website today!

THE NEXT ARNEL PINEDA??
Kids Band Playing Journey @ Yahoo! Video
The acoustics are bad but these young kids really know how to rock - especially the lead singer. It's fun to watch just trying to imagine how good they will be in just a few years....if they stay together. Let's hope so. Journey probably won't be around when they become adults, but if they are then Arnel better practice harder! Give them a listen!

SAVING LIVES
New and innovative ways to fight medical diseases are being born everyday. Research is showing over and over that one of the keys to fighting these diseases lies in our blood. Cord blood is one of the more effective ways of fighting diseases such as leukemia, anemia, lymphoma, diabetes and cerebral palsy. Parents, like us, should take note - choosing to store our child’s cord blood can be one of the best decisions we ever make. What is stored in that blood could some day be life saving! The key within the cord blood is the stem cells. This subject can be controversial but also the benefits of such research are numerous. Science can now treat diseases with Stem Cells - umbilical cord stem cells are known to treat 70 diseases. About 30,000 people a year in the United States are diagnosed with a disease that can be treated with cord blood stem cells. By the year 2015, there will be 10,000 cord blood transplants world-wide per year using publicly banked cord blood.
Cryo-Cell is one of the world’s largest and most established family cord blood banks with over 150,000 clients worldwide. And right now Cryo-Cell offers affordable pricing plans and financing options for cord blood banking. For this and other current offers, click any of the links in this post. The value of cord blood cannot be overstated, especially for parents to be. And right now Cryo Cell is making a free Baby Bjorn offer. To learn more about this important offer, simply click on the above link. The information found is life-saving. Just simply read the following testimonial and you will easily see all the life saving value this offers:
"My children are the most precious gifts that I will ever have and I want to do everything I can to make sure they are well. While I was pregnant with my first child, I would see articles and ads about cord blood and it bothered me that it was so expensive but what if I one day needed this blood. The reality of having only one chance or it really went in the garbage kept me wondering if I would regret not investing. What if he had cancer or his dad or I were sick, would that blood have been the cure? Through research, I came across Cryo-Cell International, Inc., a company with the most reasonable rates and the assurance of two holding facilities.
When I was pregnant with my second child, we wondered if one bank was enough? Finances were tighter and should we spend the money? Then we realized that his brothers blood might not match for the new baby. The next day, stories were breaking about how Cord blood had saved or changed the lives of children, one cancer, one cerebral palsy. Then we discovered that a friend was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He didn't bank his daughters blood and wished he had. Three years prior, I lost a friend to renal cancer when she was 29. We felt like it was our answer.
We are just beginning to see miracles that this blood can bring. We have two "life insurance policies", that is how we look at it. If anyone in the family gets ill, there is a chance that the blood could save our lives. If we don't use it, then it is there for our son's children."
Sincerely,
mother of Parker and Davis

OFF TO THE PHILIPPINES
My Sweetheart and son are off to the Philippines for a family visit. I will be joining them later this month but for now, I wanted to ask all of you to pray for them to have a safe trip. Her family is so excited to see her and incredibly excited to see Daniel in person for the very first time! I will miss them both sooooo much but it makes my heart happy that they will all be together and enjoy each other's company. The trip is also very special because we will have Daniel baptized in her home church. Thank you for praying for them and if you want, please leave a comment wishing her and Daniel a great and safe trip!! Salamat!!

FROM CURSE TO CURE
There has been a lot written about stem cell research. It may be controversial but at least it is worth reading and considering and then, formulating an opinion. C’elle "enables and empowers a woman to take control of her future health, and possibly of those genetically closest to her, in a fast, painless and stress free way." This statement proves powerful when you read and understand the simple process of collecting and harvesting the cells.

FREE CHECKS FROM VISTAPRINT
Being in business means you always want to project the very best about you and your business. It means putting your best foot forward and making sure that others, especially clients or potential clients, see you and perceive you at your best. This also holds true as an individual or family. One of the key ways others perceive your business or you, other than meeting you in person, is by the marketing materials you have. Marketing is your "stamp" on the moment and that will leave a lasting impression. One of the ways you can leave a lasting impression is with printed materials for your business. In particular, the checks you use.
Your check is your signature. And there is no better place to get your business checks or personal checks than from VistaPrint. You can not only order checks, but you can design your own or have them design it for you...logo included. Our checks would have a tropical theme to them. Obviously we are a Filipino-American couple so we would want to portray a Filipino theme of the tropic (palm tree, beautiful ocean view) and an American theme of, perhaps, a city view. When you check out their website, you will even see ways in which you qualify for free checks.
VistaPrint offers a wide selection of not only business and personal checks but also business or personal letterhead and matching envelopes, rubber stamps, invitations and announcements, marketing and promotional materials, and much more. They have a convenient online ordering process and excellent customer service as well. What better way to gain attention and to project the image you want than through advertising and one of the best forms and least expensive ways to advertise, as a business or even as a family, is by purchasing customized checks. I would encourage you to visit VistaPrint today.

EARTHQUAKE IN ITALY
Bells tolled in hilltowns across central Italy on Wednesday as the first funerals got under way for victims of the country's devastating earthquake. 272 dead. 28,000 homeless. In my mind, it is virtually unfathomable to comprehend this kind of tragedy where I live. Of course in the Philippines, we are no strangers to this kind of nature-induced horror but here in the States it seems unlikely. Although California is highly at risk, where we live in Georgia isn't. So our hearts go out to Italy and the multitudes of lives that have been lost and sorely effected. Here's the story.

FILIPINO FISH FRY
Fishermen in the Philippines accidentally caught and later ate a megamouth shark, one of the rarest fishes in the world with only 40 others recorded to have been encountered. This story is leaking out as a bit of an embarrassment to the Philippines. The fishermen had the "fish of a lifetime" in their nets and they could have probably sold it to an aquarium or research facility for a lot of money. Instead they ate it. I understand shark meat is the main ingredient in a local delicacy in that area. Hopefully the world will understand the immediate need of the fishermen was to first feed their families. But it would have been nice if............never mind. Here's the story.

CRAZY TAX DEDUCTIONS
Tax time is around the corner and all of us, if you haven't already, will file your taxes. Tax deductions become more and more important each year but what is funny, is how far some are willing to go to try to get a deduction. Here are some examples of some of the funnier tax deductions people have tried to take:
- A taxpayer asked for a home office deduction for the toilet paper he bought for his house
- A CPA was reviewing a business client's accounting entries and noted a check for over $2,000 written to a gynecologist. It was classified on the business books as 'repairs and maintenance.'
- A CPA had a woman who tried to deduct her tricked-out Jacuzzi hot tub due to medical reasons. That can be a legitimate expense -- but not the underwater speakers, the mood lighting and the in-tub stereo.
- A taxpayer wanted to write off a $100,000 swimming pool for medical reasons because swimming relaxed him so he could earn more money, which in turn would be taxable.
Nice try to all of them but to all of them.......goodnight.

BEEWELL FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Breast cancer is serious business. Everyone knows this. And there are many good and worthy organizations that do a lot for this cause. One of those is Bumble Bee Foods. And right now, from 4/1/09-10/31/09, Bumble Bee Foods will donate $0.15/mile for every mile logged at BeeWellMiles.com (up to $200,000) to help the Breast Cancer Network of Strength. BeeWell Miles - this program was created to make it easy to get active, one step at a time - here are some of the benefits of the program:- Interact with our panel of experts and read their weekly blogs
- See how your activity/nutrition offset each other with our Activity/Nutrition Balance
- Interact with other guests and share ideas/tips in our Community forums
- Find walking/running events in your area
Do you know someone with breast cancer? We do and it, like any other cancer, is an especially difficult road to journey. If you log just 2 miles per day during this promotion, you will help contribute around $65 toward this cause. If you had 5 or 10 friends to match you, suddenly that becomes almost $500 Bumble Bee will contribute. It quickly adds up and as you know, many people are in need of quick action when it comes to breast cancer. My friend and I walk 2 miles per day and try our best to walk everyday. Although we haven't walked every single day, we are committed to do this as often as possible. The above picture is a recent walk we had on a beautiful day at Stone Mountain. It feels so good to know we are helping those who have this terrible disease and furthermore, we are helping our friend with breast cancer. So how many BeeWell Miles can you log? By clicking the previous link, you can get more information about this important cause as well as other information about living a healthy lifestyle. Be sure to check them out today!
