THE LIFE OF A BASEBALL WIFE

This is Greg Nettles. You may or may not have heard of him but he was a great baseball player whose career spanned more than 20 years. He holds an unusual record not many people know about.

He is the only player in Major League Baseball history to play for 2 teams on the same day.

In 1988 he was playing for the Atlanta Braves in a double header against the Montreal Expos. At the end of the first game, the players were resting and getting ready for the second, when Greg was summoned to speak with his manager. PHILIPPINE AND UNITED STATES ECONOMIES GROW

I love a good cook-off and there is a great one about to happen in New Orleans. As one of America’s most prestigious culinary competitions, The Great American Seafood Cook off will happen again this year on August 2nd and 3rd. This is one event I would love to attend.

I love seafood as does my husband. Our favorite seafood dish is bangus or milkfish. We simply season it with salt and pepper, stuff it with chopped onions and tomatoes then put it on the grill! The aroma is heavenly! Masarap!

SPAM KING DIES

The spam king died recently. Let me back up and give you the whole story.

We all know what spam is and we are all sick of it. The CanSpam Act made spam illegal and so cyber-detectives are always on the lookout for those who pollute and clog our email boxes with their garbage. The man pictured here, Edward Davidson, nicknamed the Spam King, was recently caught and sentenced to 2-4 years in prison...which is less than half of what the prosecuters were asking for. By the way, he 'earned' more than 3 million dollars as a professional spammer. He was being held at a minimum security prison in Colorado, when he escaped and drove back to his home in Boulder. Next, he shot and killed his wife, his daughter and then himself. Coward. His 7 month old baby was not harmed....thank God. Here's the whole story.

Ryan Seacrest, of American Idol fame, was recently bitten by a shark off the coast of California. He said he was "about eight feet out" when he felt something swim by him. "I thought it was a stick," he said. "I wasn't sure what had happened." Then, he said, "I saw it swim! He took a bite, and he left."

POOR AMY

Poor Amy. Not much time left. Not much of her mind or body left either. She went to the hospital and they poised her stay as a "reaction to medicine." Nice. What kind of medicine I wonder? His recent tour of the Middle East saw him "pass over" the troops in favor of, among other things, a love-fest in Germany where he diplomatically slammed the USA as needing forgiveness for its transgressions while the murderess hierarchy in Iraq just laughs at the future leader of the free world. Higher taxes, more government, less individual liberty - the Democratic Party. I can almost hear Teddy Roosevelt (Democrat) screaming from the grave......the Democratic Party is a far cry from what it used to be.

Here is my good friend Keith Walendowski. He called me out of the blue from jail. I couldn't believe it but he actually got his rifle out and shot his lawn mower. WEEKEND AT STONE MOUNTAIN

A couple of weeks ago we went to Stone Mountain. If you ever come to Georgia, you have to see (and climb) Stone Mountain. You can see the engraving on the side of the mountain in this picture. It's a breath-taking sight and even more awesome in person. Also, it is a lot of fun just to watch all the people coming and going as the crowds there get pretty huge. While we were enjoying our picnic lunch and watching all the people, we noticed a Filipino family not too far from us. So I, (the Am in Fil-Am) using my excellent knowledge of Tagalog, approached them and said, "Sa Pilipinas po kayo?" They looked at this American in shock that I knew their language and politely answered, "Oo!" I waved at Debbie to come and meet them and as you can see in the picture below we ended up eating together and making new friends.



It ended up a great afternoon and evening at Stone Mountain which culminated in the world famous Laser Show. We can't wait to go back soon and this time, we will climb the mountain.....or take the trolly(lol). If you are ever in Georgia.....

FILIPINOS CAPTURED BY PIRATES?

Twenty Filipino seamen were among those on board a Panamanian registered bulk carrier that was hijacked by pirates off Somalia as it was sailing to the Gulf of Aden. I wasn't sure pirates existed today until I did more research and discovered pirating (not software) is big business....for the sea thugs. Our fellow countrymen have been bullied by pirates and are now held captive off the coast of Somolia which has a reputation of being chaotic to begin with. The scientist who issued the above warning says he is not waiting and wants his whole staff to limit cell phone use...especially around children.
