DOM'S STORY

This is my brother in law and his family. Dom and his older brother Darwin were in a bad motorcycle accident about 2 years ago and almost lost their lives. In later posts you will see Darwin and his family - but for now I wanted to spotlight Dom because recently he performed a huge accomplishment.

Before I tell you what he did, I will tell you that Dom endured countless days in the hospital (15 days in the hospital with 8 days in ICU) and many days of physical therapy and a tough, grueling recovery period. From the accident he lost much of his speech, his memory and many of his physical abilities. What was easy before suddenly was very challenging and difficult. But he is a winner in every sense of the word. He fought back and recently (drum roll please....) passed the LET (Licensure Examination for Teachers-Secondary Level)!! He was down, but not out. He was hurt, and although he is still recovering to this day, he has made more progress than most people who have gone through what he did. I would compare his inner toughness, drive and strength to that of Pacman's any day of the week.

We are so proud of you Dom. Congratulations on passing the LET (we knew you could do it!) and we know you will be such an inspiring and motivating teacher to so many lucky kids in the Philippines. Mahal na mahal ka namin brother!!

For those of you reading this - will you please leave an encouraging comment for Dom?

Thank you so much guys for all your wonderful and touching comments for Dom.

To Betchai, Dom is actually my brother, and it was my husband who wrote this post about him.

We thought we would like to feature him here in our blog and let people know about his courage, his faith, his perseverance, his very inspiring story. Once again, thank you so much from the innermost part of our hearts for taking time to read and leave your comments. And on behalf of Dom, he also wanted to express his gratitude to all of you who left those very inspiring comments and messages.

Congratulations to Dom! That's a great accomplishment. Despite of what he's been through, he didn't lose hope and just pressed on. It reminded me of what I've been through also. I was taking my education units when I had a relapse of the big C. I had to stopped my schooling and I had to undergo treatment. I thought I won't be able to continue my schooling because of my illness. But God has healed me of the big C. I went back to school after I recovered. I finished taking 18 Education units, took the LET (Secondary education major in Math) without reviewing and I passed it with flying colors. God is really good.

Dom is my godson when he received his sacrament of confirmation way back 2002,not so sure with the year, my memory failed, jeje!He was once my student during his college. I wonder why I became close to this fellow,he asks a lot of things and even request me to teach him how to be a master of ceremonies in such school program/activity. I taught him,how to be an Emcee, he applied the things i've told him. I was confident that he will be able to graduate his college degree. Few years ago, when I'm not already in the school where Dom studied, the news was so shocking that it really cracked my head, Dom met an accident . I didn't have time to visit him in the hospital, but I never stopped praying the rosary for him daily. I don't wanna cry and see him in the ICU but I could help him widearms open for Divine intervention. So God answered my prayers, he recovered, staggered, but he, now, same Dom I've met. I was so shocked when he went at home and asking that I could be a sponsor for his organized basketball league in Manaoag. I was thankful to see him again. Now the excruciating pain he experienced turned into a fulfillment, I'm very proud of you Dom, inspite of the great catastrophe occurred, you made it passing the LET Exam. I'm leaving you with the song by Splendor "I think God can explain"Try to listen to this song it could relieve yourself in the midst of chaotic state!Dom, Keep up! Keep on goin', We are here for you!Ad majorem gloriam Dei!
