WEEKEND AT STONE MOUNTAIN

A couple of weeks ago we went to Stone Mountain. If you ever come to Georgia, you have to see (and climb) Stone Mountain. You can see the engraving on the side of the mountain in this picture. It's a breath-taking sight and even more awesome in person. Also, it is a lot of fun just to watch all the people coming and going as the crowds there get pretty huge. While we were enjoying our picnic lunch and watching all the people, we noticed a Filipino family not too far from us. So I, (the Am in Fil-Am) using my excellent knowledge of Tagalog, approached them and said, "Sa Pilipinas po kayo?" They looked at this American in shock that I knew their language and politely answered, "Oo!" I waved at Debbie to come and meet them and as you can see in the picture below we ended up eating together and making new friends.

It ended up a great afternoon and evening at Stone Mountain which culminated in the world famous Laser Show. We can't wait to go back soon and this time, we will climb the mountain.....or take the trolly(lol). If you are ever in Georgia.....

Thanks for sharing. It is indeed a beautiful park and good site for picnic or just hang out.

Dana, you rock man. I'm sure Debbie is proud of you for trying and actually speaking the language. Not many tries. Rick says "mahal kita" and that's the only sentence he knows. So keep on!

Daniel looks so cute!

Anyway, don't have any big plans over the weekend. If I can stand the 100 degree heat outside, I probably would work on my garden.

Happy Friday!

What an awesome sight! It must be wonderful to spend a day there and have a delightful picnic with the family. :) I'm impressed that Dana can speak Tagalog. I didn't know that. Great! :) My hubby only knows a few words like Mahal Kita, and siopao (more of a Chinese word, i think hehee :). He loves siopao that's why he needed to learn the word. Nice to know that you met some of our Kababayans there. Sadly, there's not much Filipinos here in our area. Only a handful, i think.

Beautiful photos! love seeing baby Daniel again! cutee cutee!!!

Lotsa love, hugs and kisses to pogi Daniel from Noah and lil Kaiden :)

We've been to different states but not in Georgia yet. We almost went to Savannah GA during our summer vacation in 2005 but we were just pressed for time. This is definitely a place to consider when we visit GA, hopefully we can meet with you guys as well :-)

we went there when I was dating a guy from georgia..lol.. and whats funny was that he didn't told me that we were going to climb it all the way to the top.. walking.. and i was wearing some sandals.. not a flat one.. but I made it.. after we went back to his place my legs and feet are sore... i will do it again though.. the view is breathtaking.. although I can't post any of the photos...hubby might get jealous.

hahaha!! my hubby who's not a pinoy is also like that, he recognizes a pinoy from afar and he'll be the first one to talk to them even though he can only manage to say, "Pinoy Ka?".. it's like he's more excited to see a pinoy than me..heheh!

anyways, you've got a beautiful family photo there.

God bless you family!
